Southern Gulf Islands, BC

Rising from the cool, clear water of the North Pacific, just off the mainland of British Columbia, Canada, you’ll find a handful of serene, verdant, rolling crowns we call the Southern Gulf Islands. Here, in our cool Mediterranean microclimate, our days are warmed by good neighbours and West Coast sunshine, our hearts are filled with inspiration, and our nights are sung to sleep by the orca whales that call our channels home.

Stay, rest, relax, and repeat. Each island has it’s own character, laid back, rustic, up tempo, bustling. Like the sea, some of us ebb, some of us flow, but we all seem to move at the perfect pace

What they do

Here on Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Saturna, and Salt Spring Islands, we encourage visitors to relax for a weekend or stay awhile.

A place to call your own while you’re here. The people on these islands will infuse each minute of your visit with wonder and hospitality. Because we live in such abundance, we have a lot to share.

These islands are defined by quiet leisure. Go in search of yourself, or find a pursuit that’s artistic, athletic, or delicious. Hop around or plant roots in fertile soil.

We’re cut from the same beautiful cloth. We share a fabric of rolling hills, dense forests, sandstone cliffs and pebble beaches—woven together with friendly and colourful people. Now, see what sets us apart.

The FOLKS & why they do it

We’re artists, fresh thinkers, and nurturers of new life.

Led by a small local team, Southern Gulf Islands Tourism works to create a regenerative tourism industry by supporting small businesses, funding housing initiatives, connecting communities, and improving experiences for both visitors and residents. With a mission to steward the vibrancy and viability of an interconnected archipelago, the not-for-profit organization aims to improve how we all live, work, and play in the Southern Gulf Islands.

Where you can find them

On the Southern Gulf Islands Tourism website, you can find your island escape fit to any season and any taste. Explore, create, or unwind. Find seasonal festivals to explore, learn where to stay or who to visit, and learn just how to visit these beauty islands. Where doing nothing is the new something.
