In Gratitude

celebrating our community

At its heart, FOLKLIFE is built by people—our contributors, our readers, our partners, and the many hands that have helped shape this creative journey.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who has stood alongside us as we’ve grown, evolved, and shared stories of slow living, creativity, and connection.

Where We Operate

FOLKLIFE is created and shared by uninvited settlers on the traditional, stolen territories of the Coast Salish Peoples.

We acknowledge the ongoing effects of systemic colonialism and genocide, including the Kuper Island Indian Residential School, which operated from 1889 to 1975, and we recognize our responsibility in truth and reconciliation.

As we celebrate the beauty of this area, we extend our gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples of this territory, who have been and continue to be in honourable relationship with these lands, waters, and kin since time immemorial.

Thanks to Southern Gulf Islands Tourism for their vision and partnership, helping us share meaningful stories.

“To our contributors, mentors, stockists, and supporters—thank you. Your belief in the value of thoughtful storytelling and creative community has carried us forward.”

–Alina Cerminara, FOLKLIFE Founder
